Yesterday, October 18, I held a day of bodywork sessions in Kobe.

Many people came throughout the day, starting in the morning.I am grateful to them.

This was my second time holding sessions in Kobe.

The first was in July.It was incredibly hot. Whenever I think back to those sessions, the heat comes back to me too.

This time, it was much cooler and more comfortable. The same city, but a different season makes such a difference to how the body feels.

I was glad to be there at this time of year.

⸻

Once again, people came with a range of physical difficulties.

One person could not raise their arm and had trouble getting dressed. They told me they could not even reach up to hold a strap on the train.

Getting dressed.

Holding a strap on the train.

These are movements we normally make without thinking. But when you cannot raise your arm, each becomes a difficulty.

After the session, I asked them to move their arm.

They lifted it, then tried moving it in a circle.

“Oh, I can move my arm around!”

They sounded genuinely surprised.

A woman with knee pain also tried walking after her session and told me it no longer hurt.

They moved their bodies, checking the difference for themselves.I watched as they did.

We still need to see how things develop afterward, but it is always a pleasure when someone notices a change and is happy about it.

⸻

My approach has changed considerably over time.

I now work in a way that involves very little pain. This time, too, the sessions were peaceful throughout.

Having pain does not mean the session itself needs to be painful.

I observe the body, make contact, and ask the person to move again.Together, we explore what has changed.

Meeting each person in turn, the day went by.

⸻

“When will you be back?”

Several people asked me.

I have not set the next date yet, but I would like to return before too long.I am grateful that people are looking forward to it.

⸻

Thank you to everyone who came.I look forward to seeing you again in Kobe.
